Dione and Scott were married on June 13th with a ceremony and reception at Whittemore Robbins House in Arlington.
This beautiful couple met in Benin, West Africa, when they were in the Peace Corps together. Their villages there were about 30 minutes away from each other, and after that, they continued their relationship long distance until they moved to Somerville together. Scott kept all their messages from their time apart, along with some pictures, and bound them in a book together along with a message to her saying that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. When she said yes, he threw confetti everywhere—how adorable is that?
They found me through an old college buddy, Suzi, who I used to work with at WERS, the Emerson Collage radio station. She reached out to me on Facebook about shooting her wedding and if I was interested; of course, I said yes!
On the day of the wedding, my second shooter, Vanessa Walsh, and I arrived at the Whittemore Robbins house (which is about a mile from where I live—gotta love that!), and the two of us flipped back and forth between Dione and Scott. They had decided not to do a first look, so instead, we played around on a few spots around the property before the ceremony.
They were married by a reflecting pool beside the house by a close friend of theirs from the Peace Corps. After the ceremony, we had fun with them and their wedding party taking pictures. Dione and Scott were really down with anything for photos. We even talked them into getting in the reflecting pool, alone and with the whole group!
After an amazing dinner, catered by the East Coast Grill, it was time for ice cream cake and the most insane donuts ever—hello, maple bacon donuts, anyone? Then, it was dancing in the garden and lots of partying.
Dione and Scott are like two peas in a pod. Their vows were so touching and you can tell they truly love one another. Thank you guys for having me as part of such an important day in your lives. It was so great…especially the jumping in the fountain and the donuts!
